At Bosham Primary School, high quality assessment is at the heart of high quality learning. Teachers assess pupils’ learning continually and carefully to ensure that they are providing next steps which will stretch every child and help them to make progress. This also allows us to support pupils who may need their learning adapted with more scaffolding, pre-teaching or modelling to understand new concepts or information.
Subject leaders regularly moderate teachers’ assessments for accuracy and consistency. Writing is moderated regularly within school, within our locality of schools and by external moderators. Pupil progress is tracked at termly progress meetings where teachers are held to account for the progress of children in their class, and any additional support they may need is discussed with senior leaders and our maths and English leads.
