Year 3/4 Sailing

Twelve intrepid members of Year 3 and 4 took to the water yesterday to learn to sail, thanks to the support of the Bosham Youth Fund and Bosham Sailing Club.

It was hard to imagine a more perfect evening, in a more idyllic setting, for our novice sailors to take to the water.  With the tremendous support of Melvin and the Bosham Sailing Club, 12 children, in 6 optimist boats, took to the water, on a balmy evening, watched by their encouraging parents from the meadow.  Rather than using sails, the children took turns to hold sail fabric in the air, to experience the wind and discover how to operate the boat.  Two hours passed in a heart beat, and it was time to wash down the boats (the boats, that is, not eachother!) and squelch back home.

I'm sure those children slept well after their evening on the water and I know they are looking forward to more sessions throughout the Summer Term.
