National TV Exclusive!

On Friday, Year 6 attended an exclusive film preview at Channel 4, in London, AND were interviewed for CBBC's Newsround.

On Friday, Year 6 had the incredible opportunity to go to the Channel 4 Studios in London to watch a preview of the long-awaited sequel to Raymond Brigg’s The Snowman, called The Snowman and the Snowdog!

The class were shown into a special area in the Channel 4 buildings to have lunch before they were ushered into the channel’s very own cinema. Year 6 are the very first school children in the country to see the animation, which is due to be aired on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve to mark the 30th anniversary of the original Snowman.

The class loved the film, with Bethany calling it, “absolutely epic,” and Will noting, “I thought it was really good. I loved the whole idea of it and how it followed on from the original.”

Not only did the children have the chance to watch this beautiful sequel (which was made up of over 200, 000 drawings and used in excess of 5, 000 pencils!), but they also had an exclusive Q&A with Robin, one of the main illustrators, who created the scene in which the snowman takes off (…but we can’t give too much away!). Robin even showed a number of his original illustrations.

In addition to watching the animation, Barney and Phoebe became expert Press Packers for CBBC, reporting on the film. Their news report will be shown on News Round on BBC 1 on Tuesday 18th December, so make sure you are watching!
